Asians say that Asian-American parents place too much pressure on their children to do well in school, even more Chinese and Japanese say this about parents in their countries. October 5, Seven-in-ten Indian-American adults ages 25 and older have a college degree, compared with about half of Americans of Korean, Chinese, Filipino and Japanese ancestry, and about a quarter of Vietnamese Americans. Among the most famous conceptions of assimilation is the distinction between behavioral assimilation otherwise known as "acculturation" and structural or socioeconomic assimilation. No matter how the Supreme Court rules on the Arizona law, this problem of assimilation will remain. Both terms are used interchangeably.
